Things I'd never done before moving to Turkey #3

Wear a vest.

In England, if you wear a vest, you're probably old enough to remember rationing. In Turkey, men wear vests. It's as simple as that.

I tell you what though, I forgot what a good idea they are!

But why? It can't be to keep warm because they wear them all summer too. Please tell us the secret...why?

We call them singlets in Australia. And yes, they are popular with men in Turkey. I think in summer then they can take off their shirts and lounge in singlet at home (never outside in public!) Also they are fearful of catching colds as has been mentioned on this blog before.

They are especially fetching tucked into the jocks like that.

Best tucked into one's gripper shorts, accompanied by a unibrow and clenched fist.
It's a look.

For reasons unbeknownst to myself, I call them 'Jesus shirts'. My Turkish husband can't live without them!

These things are horrible! Seriously the bane of my existence! Barely anyone ever looks good in them, and they go dingy and get holes in them seemingly within days.

Try as I might, he will not, absolutely WILL NOT switch over to the infinitely better tee-shirt style undershirts, which (IMHO) DO actually look SEXY and prevent the foul 'ring around the neck' and 'pit stains' that those hideous vests allow, while still keeping them from catching cold.

I just don't get it..

***Update***
I've started tucking them into my pants. Really works!
